Calfro Origin
This shoe doesn't fix your foot. It gets out of the way so your foot can fix itself.
Three things have been doing your foot's work for it: a lifted heel, a thick cushioned sole, and a toe box shaped like a triangle when your toes are shaped like a fan. The Foothold removes all three. Zero drop. A 4mm sole. Room for your toes to actually spread.
That's it. That's the whole idea. Your foot does the rest.
What's in the box
- The shoe
- The 8-week transition card — because a shoe like this takes weeks to work, and we'd rather coach you than lose you
- A printable millimetre measuring template
Three things we'd rather tell you now than have you find out on your own
1. Your calves are going to be sore. Roughly the first two weeks. That soreness is muscle waking up, not the shoe failing — but it's real, and every company that doesn't warn you about it is quietly keeping your money when you give up in week two.
2. This is not a 12-hour-shift shoe on day one. If you stand on concrete for a living, these are your off-shift shoes for the first few weeks. In one MRI study, 10 of 19 runners who switched to minimalist shoes showed increased bone-marrow swelling after ten weeks — and they'd transitioned gradually. Go too fast and you can hurt yourself. Follow the card.
3. Some people should not buy these. If you have advanced peripheral neuropathy, a diabetic foot, or a rigid structural deformity, talk to your doctor before you order. We'd rather lose the sale.
About the copper
Yes, there's a copper plug in the outsole. Here's what it is: a conductive contact point — the same idea as standing barefoot on wet grass.
Here's what we won't tell you: that it cures, treats or relieves anything. The research on grounding is thin, and most of it was produced by people who sell grounding products. And through a thick dry sock you're not getting much contact anyway — barefoot or in a thin sock, you are.
We're not asking you to buy the copper. We're asking you to buy the shoe. The copper is free.
